How does spray tanning work?
The active ingredient used in spray tanning is DHA (Dihydroxyacetone.) Derived from sugar cane, it causes a chemical reaction on the top layer of your skin to naturally produce a beautiful tan without damage to the skin.
DHA is FDA approved and recommended by The American Cancer Society as the only safe way to tan without the dangerous causes of the sun or tanning beds.

What do I wear during a spray tan?
Dress to your comfort level. You can wear shorts and a tank top, a bathing suit, bra and panties or go completely nude, it’s up to you.
Guys, bottoms are required. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a guardian present and underwear is required. Nose filters and protective eyewear are available upon request.

Will I look orange?
Absolutely not. While some sunless tanning solutions are notorious for being orange, there is nothing orange about ours. Our sunless solutions create the most beautiful, natural bronze tans that can be customized to best suit your skin tone.

Will I stink?
No, our professional solutions are odor-free.

Will my spray tan stain my clothes?

There are instant bronzers inside of the solution that will wash off during your first post-spray tan shower. Before showering these instant bronzers can rub off on sheets and clothing but will not stain. This is why it is advised that you come wearing dark, loose fitting clothing to your appointment.

How long will my spray tan last?
You should expect your tan to last 5-7 days. We offer a variety of retail products to maintain and extend the life of your tan.

How old do you have to be to receive a spray tan?
Spray tanning is safe and FDA approved. Anyone can be spray tanned although a guardian must be present for persons under the age of 18.

I am pregnant, can I receive a spray tan?

Please consult your physician before getting spray tanned. We do not spray tan during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is our policy that pregnant clients MUST wear nostril filters provided.

How should I prepare for my spray tan?

Shower and shave prior to your appointment. Exfoliate your skin with a gentle exfoliating scrub.
Keep skin moisturized in the days leading up to your spray tan but do not apply lotion, makeup, perfumes or any other products to your skin the day of your appointment as this may create a barrier between your skin and the solution.
If deodorant must be worn, carefully apply and avoid overspray.
Try to avoid shaving within 12 hours prior to your appointment. Bring or wear dark, loose fitting clothing to your appointment and an umbrella if it’s raining.
Get all waxing, facials, manicures/pedicures the day before your spray tan.

What should I expect after I am spray tanned?

DO NOT GET WET or apply moisturizer until it is time. If you do, you will stop the tanning action of the DHA.
Do not shower for 8-24 hours or 1-4 if you did the express formula.
Do not exercise until after you shower. Perspiring prior to your post shower after tanning alters the chemical reaction of the spray tan applied, changing its color, possibly leaving you streaky.
Do not rub your skin the same day of your tanning application.
You will see color washing off the first time you shower, this is the cosmetic color added for you to see an instant bronze tan. The cosmetic color does not affect the DHA tanning formula, the invisible DHA will continue to develop up to 24 hours.
After you shower, avoid scrubs, long hot showers and baths. Apply moisturizer frequently following your first shower. This will help prolong the life of your spray tan.
Lotions with AHAs (glycolic acids) are used to increase exfoliation, therefore fading your tan. Avoid them. Chlorine from pools or hot tubs can cause your tan to fade faster.
The Spa at Reynolda offers a variety of professional retail products to produce and maintain the most amazing tan.
